Pretty sure Vejmelka is untouchable for ARI, and if not then that's not nearly enough for him

Boston does not want Barrie at any cost. He has no value other than on the PP, he’s a detriment in every other scenario.

It’s so bizarre how so many here think that Tyson Barrie is a terrible Dman. For the first 6 weeks of 2022 he was the best Dman for Edmonton. This was in every zone. Since that time he has been out of the line-up twice and comes back tonight vs TB.

He is a good 2RD and an excellent 3LD. In 2022 he been paired up either with rookies or on the 1st pair with Darnell Nurse. He’s only had 2 or 3 bad games in 2022 and in those games he hasn’t gotten a lot of help.

The only reason he might be moved is because the Oilers GM is not very good at managing the Cap or trading.

He’s in the bottom 5% of all NHL d men in 5v5 shot suppression . He sucks.

Shot suppression, lol.

Tyson Barrie is not a shot blocker and he is under 6’, so he doesn’t have a big reach and isn’t deflecting shots on the regular. He relies on positioning to influence attackers as a defender. I have watched him closely over the past 2 years, he gets a bad rap from his time in Toronto while playing for Babcock. Same with Ceci, who is a solid defender.

Of players in Edmonton who have played 25 or more games (18 have done so) Barrie has the 5th best 5v5 On Ice Save Percentage. 2nd best Dman in that category.

This, IMO is a better metric than shot suppression, which factors in things like missing the net and doesn’t factor things like shot location or shot quality or competition, he does very well against the toughest competition. I would love to see the list of top 10 shot suppressors vs bottom ten. Would wager the Avg salary of the bottom 10 is at least double that of the top 10.
