Description
Pens need to upgrade winger depth and try to clear some cap space to resign Letang, Malkin, and Rust. I think these two deals accomplish that goal and are actually reasonable.
Arizona trade is essentially Zucker for Kessel. Clears space for resigning, gives Zucker a chance to be a star on a new team or another trade chip for Arizona to use for other picks and keeps them above cap floor. Also a swap or prospects that could use a new place to be. Those two guys could easily be dropped and wouldn't hurt my feelings.
Swap with Wings looks like good hockey deal. Wings maybe get the better end of the deal in the long run, but it accomplishes a goal for the pens.

Not even close on Bertuzzi. No interest in Kapanen at all and you're severely short on return assets and that's not even accounting for the laughable 3rd you also have Detroit sending back. Cost for Bertuzzi is 1 A+ asset (high 1st round pick or top prospect), 1 A asset (mid to late 1st round pick or top 5 prospect) and 1 B level asset (2nd round pick or top 20 prospect).

Add Poulin and a 1st and Detroit MAY start talking. Still think Bert is better value.

Wings pass and it's not close. Penguins don't have the assets that the wings want, not a good trade partner for bertuzzi

I think the Wings fans greatly over value Bertuzzi and undervalue the return pieces. While I agree they'd WANT more for him... I'm not sure they're going to get much more, especially from the Pens.
