Description
3 holes filled.
1 - a winger with good underlying numbers that can really work with barzy and wahly. Lets the 3 Ps reunite.
2 - restocking the pipeline. Adds a prospect im high on plus a 1st rounder in a great draft.
3 - i know it sounds like lou will keep the goalies through next year but with sorokin emerging as an elite goalie and with mitch korn and piero grecco on board it makes almost too much sense to buy low on a goalie and let the isles goalie dept do its thing.

Yes i might be going light on the price for vgk especially with the rumors recently that it wouldve costed vegas a 1st+ to move dadonov, but i wanted to make sure we could be the ones to make the trade. Also im very happy with this return.

1st to retain on varly plus flip him for brossoit. Chayka to take dadonov. Would only do this deal as a total package, wouldnt only do 1 part.

I would. Its an unprotected 23 1st to downgrade from varly to brossoit (and varly is declining while brossoit is extremely hot and cold) and i think brossoit could do very well behind a defense first system and getting to work with mitch korn. (Hot take if varly goes to VGK and NYI gets brossoit, brossoit will be the better goalie next year). Then we have a good d prospect whos playstyle and high ceiling make him the perfect partner for dobson long term. We also get a winger who if he was in a different situation (say still on OTT) i would give up something for.
Its 5m for 1 year which isnt bad at all for a top 6 winger. Could someone try to bargain for more? Yeah. But then ARI will come in and steal the deal for a lower price.

Cool, but the Islanders won’t because it’s a terrible offer. Brossoit isn’t gonna be better than Varlamov. I’d rather have Skarek or sign Griess in the off-season. They don’t need to take back salary and retain on Varlamov. Also they have too many older wings so Dadanov contract would hurt them unless he could be moved for a d man of similar value. He’s not a bad player but his salary is higher than his cap hit which has killed his trade value.
