if we were able to get Nic Hague I think I'd be fine keeping Salo as LD3 in this case - Reilly is a fine player but I don't think the gap between him and Salo is enough to go out of your way to acquire him. Salo can be sheltered as LD3 (double shift Pelech/Hague in the 3rd period of tight games if you need to) the way Dobson was his first 2 seasons. Not saying Salo becomes Dobson, but we've got a decent blueprint for developing a young D so might as well see if we can take advantage of it.
If Ottawa is down for that trade I think you have to make it - Brown makes up for less offense by being a stronger defensive presence than Bailey, and only having 1 year of the deal works - if he's a homerun, re-sign him, but getting out of that Bailey cap slot a year earlier is worth a pick that probably lands in the 60ish range.
Not sure if the Isles and Vancouver line up in a trade - I'd assume they'd want prospects if they're moving JT Miller, and they'd probably want wingers or RHD - the two areas the Isles have the least prospects in. The other issue is Miller being essentially a rental, which I'm assuming is going to lead to the return being less than what Canucks fans would want, but unless Miller is 100% in love with where he goes, I could see him testing free agency in the summer. This is probably going to be his only meaningful crack at UFA, and for a guy who's bounced around as much as he has (NYR->Tampa->Vancouver), I could see him looking for a big number and long term with a strong NMC/NTC - not something I'd be too stoked about the Islanders giving to a guy who'll turn 30 next season.
