Description
Main priorities for this thread: More cap space, additional picks, better quality RHDs, better 3rd line centre, younger players.

Note: I've seen lots of threads that have the Canucks valuing Marino from the Penguins as their RHD for a Miller trade. But hypothetically if Letang leaves, their D will be a downgrade. So Marino has to stay since he is basically their best Dman.

The Miller trade to me is the most likely destination, but it is dependent on the Capital's situation. It's somewhat similar to the threads I've seen, but I put Sheary in depending on whether or not the Capitals and the fans value McMichael or Lapierre more. Note due to Backstrom's injury and whether or not he will retire so Miller becomes his replacement. Main piece here is Iorio.

For the Durzi trade, i figure the team has so many RHD and we have the 2nd round from the Capitals. So we could use it to acquire him.

Durzi would cost a whole lot more than a mid round 2nd.

Pens fan here. You do NOT want Kapanen for 3.75mil. Trust me.

Im actually a big Kapanen supporter as far as Pens fans go. I think he's better than people think, however even I wouldn't consider him for over 2.5 mil. He just flat out looks like a ghost sometimes, goes through brutal dry stretches, and you cant even say its an opportunity thing since he played literally on every single line this season for extended periods of time.

Why in the world would Los Angeles want to trade a proven young RD for a future? Never mind the fact that it's a crummy second.

I figure that JR has an interest in him and thought about what he would want on his next contract at the time. But if thats the player who he is, it's an overpay

Sheary, Iorio, 1st, 2nd for Miller (-$2.625M)

Probably drop the 2nd. However, with Backstrom potentially coming off of the books, the Caps might not need the retention.

Caps counters:
Sheary, Iorio, 1st for Miller (-$2.625M)
Sheary, Iorio, 2nd for Miller
