Description
- I try to reach extension deals with Bozak, JVR and Komarov
-I'm giving up a lot for Trouba but he is the player the leafs are looking for.
Dermott has the potential to be a top 4 Dman on the left side but the leafs have Reilly, Gardiner and I think Andrew Nielsen is a better player and NHL ready
It hurts to trade Bracco because he is going to be a stud but the leafs have their RW situation under control.
Leipsic has potential and Winnipeg needs depth on the LW plus he is from Winnipeg.
The 1st round pick should be a 20th to 25th so it shouldn't really matter that the leafs deal it as they have 2 seconds that year
- I try and bring back Polak and Boyle for their hard work and leadership qualities, hoping Boyle can rub off on Gauthier.
- should see another couple prospects in the system with the 2017 draft and waiting on the ufa's to be released you'll probably see Calle Rosen, Adam Brooks, Stephen Desrocher and a couple more kids signed

Dermott and Bracco are both going to be unreal. Why not develop them longer and trade at a higher value. Also Dermott is the better of the two. Currently.

Pretty sure the ask for Trouba from the Leafs would be, Kapanen+Gardiner+Toronto's 2018 2nd round pick for Jacob Trouba. Yours isn't going to cut it here.

I know it's subjective but Leipsic and Bracco are iffy NHLers. Hardly great trade value material. The defence isn't that much better especially in a year or two without Carrick and Dermot.
I like JVR, Boizak and Komarov, but I wouldn't give any extensions. Leafs will have cap issues with Marner, Nylander, Matthews, Kapanen, and Gardiner wanting new contracts in 2018 and 2019. Good teams have young replacements instead of hanging onto costly aging players.
Saucinpizza: Let's not be silly. Trouba is under Winnipeg or his traded teams control for 3 years if he wants to play in the NHL. Doesn't matter if he doesn't want to play in Canada. Would he prefer Russian in 2019?
One reason I don't like the deal is it appears Trouba is setting himself up to be UFA in three years, so I don't think it's a good deal for the Leafs at all.
