Description
Pretty simple idea- Need to move on from all but the following:
- 4 Main Roster Players
- Any player with 3 or less NHL seasons

All moves need to be realistic (at least from my perspective), and the full 50 contract limit must be reached.

The 4 roster players kept: Demko, Hughes, Pettersson, Horvat

Trades
1.
VAN
  1. Necas, Martin [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
(Necas needs a fresh start, would think a depth pick would be included, but tossing Burroughs in for extra depth gets a bump to a 3rd)
CAR
  1. Burroughs, Kyle
  2. Garland, Conor
Additional Details:
Analytic darling that hasn't had a great showing in Van in Garland, Brind Amour can get the most value out of him, depth D man in Burroughs that can play on most pairs
2.
VAN
  1. Grans, Helge
  2. Kupari, Rasmus
  3. 2022 1st round pick (LAK)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
LA paying a premium as a division rival, but it's hard to imagine this not being worth it. Consistent with the package Van wants for Miller, this deal alone could get LA back into 2nd-3rd round contention after a good showing against the Oilers
LAK
  1. Miller, J.T.
  2. Schenn, Luke
Additional Details:
Dustin Brown like player with elite scoring in JT Miller, depth D man and absolute professional/culture guy in Schenn, package coming back helps Van get younger and more in line with the team of team being built
3.
VAN
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Van essentially gets a 3rd for providing a cup winning mid six player to Toronto and clearing out the log jam on the backend by taking an underrated player Leafs fans have turned on
TOR
  1. Pearson, Tanner ($1,250,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Knows what it takes to win, can provide depth scoring and forechecking, can play up and down the line up, doesn't change the leafs cap situation, not a bad deal
4.
VAN
  1. Foligno, Nick
  2. Smith, Craig
Additional Details:
Making the best of a bad situation, Van takes back two solid, reliable vets in trying to balance the cap space as to not pay too much of a premium, but ultimately getting OEL off the books will help reshape the line up faster
BOS
  1. Ekman-Larsson, Oliver ($675,000 retained)
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (CHI)
Additional Details:
Van is a little hamstrung on this one. Fairly certain the only destination OEL would accept is Boston. Getting a 3rd to take on a little more salary, Boston also gets a solid former elite d man while McAvoy is out, keeping the window open as long as possible.
5.
VAN
  1. Blais, Samuel [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Fresh start, not a great showing in NYR
NYR
  1. Dickinson, Jason
Additional Details:
Fresh start, not a great showing in Van
6.
VAN
  1. Hakanpää, Jani
Additional Details:
Not adding a ton of salary to this move, but clears the roster spot up for Dallas and gives Van another RD option
DAL
  1. Dowling, Justin
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Dallas is one of the few teams that, with Klingberg coming off the books, has shown a willingness to spend big on players (even if the contracts aren't great), toss in a favoured depth piece of theirs and a 2nd in lieu of not retaining salary
7.
VAN
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (ANA)
MTL
  1. Dermott, Travis
Additional Details:
The Habs d core needs a bit of a revamp, Dermott seems like he would fit well under St. Louis
8.
VAN
  1. Wylie, Wyatte
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (PHI)
Additional Details:
Chuck Fletcher is essentially Jim Benning
PHI
  1. Poolman, Tucker
Additional Details:
See other detail
9.
VAN
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (NYI)
ARI
  1. Ferland, Micheal
Additional Details:
This is a game ARZ loves to play, take on dead money and flexibility to use how they need to
10.
VAN
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. 2022 2nd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Long term D partner for Hughes, just need to be okay with trading down an acquired pick for positional need
MIN
  1. Boeser, Brock [RFA Rights]
  2. 2022 1st round pick (LAK)
Additional Details:
Probably still need to move on from Fiala, but a pick upgrade and future flexibility is promising
11.
VAN
  1. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Highmore should command about the same Tyler Motte did
PIT
  1. Highmore, Matthew [RFA Rights]
12.
VAN
  1. Roy, Nicolas [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
The only deal in which Van isn't moving out players, but acquiring one, solid bottom 6 player with upside
VGK
  1. 2022 3rd round pick (PHI)
  2. 2023 4th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Vegas is cash strapped and probably can afford Roy, can't see him being offer sheeted, but they're still getting picks back

NYR don’t consider that….Blais was the player back in the Buch trade- so to move him for a player with a career high of 9 goals wouldn’t get over too well. And the only reason for his lack of a great showing was an early year ending injury due to a dirty slew foot. NYR still have plans for Blais to be a force in their bottom 6.

Blais got injured. He's still way cheaper and more useful than Dickinson.

Dumbest comment about Blais possible. Rangers easy PASS.

Rangers easy pass. Blais is a solid player who definitely did not have a poor showing before his ACL tear
