Description
The 2023 draft looks much better than the 2022 draft, I would look to give the youth some chances and see what is actually going to pan out. Give Lankinen, Kurashev, and Strome a year to play their game and see if they fit the team long term. Obviously dependent on some NMC, but the trade with the Leafs make sense on both team's goals. Borgstrom to Oilers to see if a change of play style helps his growth.

This is a bad move for the Hawks. Nylander has 2 more years and then a UFA so he doesn't offer a lot to a rebuilding team unless the Hawks move him at the TDL and Kane is worth more in that scenario then Nylander. Mrazek will cost a 2nd to move, bumping up to a late 1st doesn't close the gap on the Kane and Nylander trade.

None of this matters as Kane won't waive to go to a Canadian team.

Moving Borgstrom for only a 3rd is a waste; he showed during the latter part of the season he has talent and should be part of the rebuild.

Nylander is worth far more than kane at this moment.
Kane is older and has 1 year on his deal and Nylander is coming off a stellar year and i honestly see his value at 21sts plus a top prospect.

Any other Canadian team? Yeah he wont waive. A chance to play with his buddy Matthews for a year? Its a possibility.

I was referring to moving Nylander at the trade deadline with 1 year left should the Hawks acquire him. Comparing Kane versus Nylander with 1 year left as a rental and it's no contest....Kane is worth more. For the sake of this proposal, Nylander would only be acquired to move as a rental so that's why i made the statement.

And no, Nylander is not worth (2) 1sts and a top prospect (top meaning elite level) as a UFA in 2 seasons; that's what Debrincat is worth who's a elite winger, a RFA and younger. Nylander is very good, but he's not elite.

I don't think they are buddies so to speak...maybe losely friends, and I think Kane's legacy is way more important then playing with Matthews, but could be wrong. I see very few teams Kane will waive for with the obvious choice being the Rangers. Kane's legacy as an American hockey player and Blackhawk is pretty important to him, he's stated many times he hopes to be a part of the Blackhawks organization when his playing days are over.
