MIN
  1. Clarke, Graeme
  2. Kuokkanen, Janne
  3. Okhotiuk, Nikita
  4. 2023 1st round pick (NJD)
Additional Details:
MIN receives a largely future-based package which includes a first round pick; D, Okhotiuk, who may challenge for a spot in MIN's lineup. Clarke, who remains a project with term / time and possibly in need of opportunity. Kuokkanen will remain RFA status at conclusion of season and can compete in a bottom-six role immediately. Devils acquire Fiala as an RFA and assume the burden of trying to figure out his contract extension.

This may not look overwhelmingly great for the Wild, but these deals historically don't have much right-now substance. Opinions are welcomed and encouraged

The blues don't need Zacha and his salary would be too much for us to have on the 4th line assuming we don't trade Tarasenko or Barbashev

Fiala trade looks fair to me, but I suspect the Senators will beat that offer. Wouldn’t shed a tear if they did.

I don’t see the point in trading Zacha and Johnsson for vastly inferior players and no other assets of value.
Seems like such a waste when keeping them would make for a much deeper and talented forward corps, even if someone ends up being scratched from time to time.

Gaudreau doesn’t sign that contract, probably short by a million.
Don’t think Comrie signs that cheaply either given how well he played last season.

We have $42 million on the books for next season ($19 million short) and 9 places on the roster open. We won't need to take on players simply to reach the cap floor, so palming Johnsson off on us will cost you at least your 2022 third, not your 2023 sixth.

MN declines. We don’t have a need for a bottom 6 forward at all. And we do not need another LHD prospect. Just misses everything we’re looking for.

The past RFA bad deals is why I don’t see this happening again to BG. He won’t settle for a bad deal. Rarely do players like Fiala become available at this age. BG has more leverage than you think. BG is a pretty good negotiator, or at least has proven to be pretty stubborn with his ask and not lowering it. If you want Fiala, expect it to “hurt”. You’re not getting Fiala for Pennie’s on the dollar.
