I get that that Ottawa trade is pretty fair I just don't see Ottawa going after Garland.

The player that they go after will be a top point producer to compliment Stutzle and Garland is good but will only put up around 60pts per season. Sens are looking for around 80 - 90 points and a pure goal scorer.

JBD will also be a core piece on the RHD side of the Sens defense with Zub and probably Brannstrom.

Columbus isn't Miller's home. He's a Pittsburgh guy. Grew up close to there and played minor hockey there. If you want to say Columbus is still close you might as well give Detroit and Buffalo the same consideration. His hometown is pretty much right in the middle of all three. Washington also isn't a whole lot farther.

Good Point, Thou he was born in Ohio and spent 12 years there before moving to Pennsylvania for Hockey.
His wife is a Pennsylvania native, so that maybe a deciding factor as well.

Yes, he was born in Ohio, but the town he was born in is about 3 mins from the Pennsylvania border and under an hour from Pittsburgh and it's 3 hours across Ohio from Columbus. The Blue Jackets also weren't even a team until he was 7 years old and they were terrible. The Penguins weren't great either, but the CBJ's first year was the same year Lemieux made his comeback with Pittsburgh and they had a playoff run. I really can't see there being any more of a draw to Columbus than Detroit, Buffalo or Washington for him.

Miller doesn’t really fit our timeline to compete, however if we were to move for him, Let’s not trade next years pick unless it’s too 10 protected. Don’t want to end up like San Jose or Ottawa where you are giving up a top pick. Swap it with 12 this year
