Description

Just wondering if the Caps would be interested in bolstering their lineup with two good NHLers, Nylander and Kerfoot to take the place of Backstrom this year, and Wilson is out till February
Added Mrzarek who might help in net but it's more of cap dump by the Leafs.
Kerfoot can play centre and play well as centre. The return to the Leafs.....myself I don't care, as the immediate cap space of 14.3m could be used to fill spots in the roster. Goalie, obviously a RWer who won't be as good as Nylander and centre/LW. Leafs are optimistic Robertson and Steeves are Leafs LWers this season.

I think the Caps would certainly take this but I can't see a realistic trade like this being only 1 sided honestly. Thank you though!

While Backstrom would probably be on LTIR, Wilson would be coming back at some point in Dec/Jan so Caps would be stuck here.

There’s 2 assets I would take in this

1.Wsh 1st I know it sounds crazy to receive a first in a trade with mrazek but since he’s worth a -2nd and kerfoots worth a second the cancel each other out + Nylanders worth a 10-20 pick

2.Vanecek idk what needs to be added tho

I don’t think it would be a problem in this acgm bc I assume he would buyout mrazek then he would have enough to bring Wilson back when he’s ready

I get what your saying. In reality though, the Caps never buy out players. I can't remember the last time they did it. They must have an internal policy with the owner not to do it, honestly.

I assume any trade like this would have either vanacek or samsonov going back to the leafs as part of it, so you're already good there. Eller and hagelin can and almost certainly will be moved too which will free up another 6m. You can probably scrape together enough money to get Miller, Trocheck, and Kadri then to play 2c as well. Obviously the big question is what the leafs would want back for nylander
