It wasn't a "mystery skin condition". He had been dealing with it for years and it got progressively worse. Not sure if you have ever worn a full set of hockey pads, but they are tight and get really gross. So, the thought of them exacerbating an auto immune skin condition is not far fetched in the least bit. And most auto immune conditions only get worse with age. I don't think you realize how much pain he was going through. Hossa is not the type to just quit playing hockey. It was his life. I'm sure if it wasn't for that he would still be playing now.
Edit: i should know. I am 34 years old and disabled from Crohns disease. Auto immune diseases may be invisible to most people, but they are awful for those that have them.
