Description
decided to go off the beaten path with this one…

The Toronto trade can definitely be adjusted, wasn’t too sure on Villeneuve’s value and this would probably rely on Toronto having a suitor for Mrazek, Kerfoot, or Nylander.

STORYLINES:
Marc-Andre Fleury agrees to 1 year deal with Minnesota with an agreement to be moved to a contender at the deadline if the season falls apart.

Billy Guerin goes back to another one of his former teammates in Evgeni Malkin and offers him an opportunity to team up with fellow Russian Kaprizov and former teammates Alex Goligoski and Marc-Andre Fleury. Guerin also agreed to move him at the deadline under similar circumstances to Fleury if the season goes downhill.

Wild trade Jordan Greenway and Cam Talbot to Toronto in exchange for University of Minnesota centerman Matthew Knies, teammate of recently acquired Brock Faber as well as Minnesota native RHD Holl, RHD prospect William Villeneuve, and a 3rd round pick.

The Wild bring in Valeri Nichushkin, a Selke candidate and playoff star to replace Jordan Greenway, improving the GREEF like both offensively and defensively.

Matt Dumba traded during the draft to move up from 19 to 12 to draft Frank Nazar III, grabbing a additional 2nd round pick along the way. Dumba also agrees to an extension in the range of 6-7m over 6 years.

If Malkin would take that deal he would stay in Pittsburgh, im betting he wants same money for 2-3 years

Talbot and Greenway aren't that great. Knies would not be included in a trade with either. I still don't think Malkin would take that much of a cut, even with the reasoning you provided especially with giving another UFA in Nuichuskin more money. That being said, he won't be able to resign with them for the next two years without taking a cut, so he probably goes elsewhere and gets a 3 year deal.

Might as well toss that TO deal out the window, they are loaded with up front talent therefore have no need for Greenway and a Talbot comparable can be found via free agency with no assets leaving TO

Understandable, in that situation Wild would probably pass and try for a different C or RW on a 1 year deal and work their way down, maybe Giroux, Kessel, etc. makes sense if players don’t want the 1 year but also don’t want to lock them up for a time frame where the Wild will need to resign Boldy

Yeah, I could see that Dumba trade working for the Jackets.
