3th Ovrl pick Cooley

I don’t think we’d be interested in moving 12 and 6 for 3. Even with the seconds added to the package. The way I could see a 12 and 6 for 3 swap happen would be in a major package with chychurn added and we of course add much more.
6+12+Tex+Bean+another piece for chych and 3. Really just a spitball but potentially something there, or not if value is too far off. I really don’t know how either team would react to that kind of trade.

Having 6, 12 and a 2nd next year is WAY more valuable imo. I take Gauthier + Korchinski 6 and 12 vs Cooley and say, Luneau 3 and 32 every day of the week

Take out the 2nd and Columbus considers, but as it stands not a chance Columbus makes that trade.

15-12.9=2.1(40th OA pick) so Arizona would need to add something to even out the trade.

It's an easy no from Arizona. With 3rd OA we are getting one of the top forwards, most likely Cooley. Arizona are starving for elite talent, especially up front and at center. He might just be the best player in the draft. Also, we have 7 picks in the top 45, so there is no need for more picks.

I know what the pick value charts are saying, but those are general. This year has a clear top 3, hence it's going to cost to move up. 6+12 for 3. Arizona aren't adding anything. Still, it's an easy no from me, as explained above.

There are however rumors of Arizona wanting to move up. Friedmann mentioned it. The counteroffer I present is CAR 1st (#27, 3.2 GSVA) + COL 1st (#32, 2.7 GSVA) for CBJ 1st (#12, 5.5 GSVA). Even then Arizona is offering more value, so Columbus would have to add 0.4 GSVA, which is your 4th round pick (#109, 0.4 GSVA). 12 + 109 for 27 + 32.

All in all, I see where you're coming from. Both Portzline and Scheig wrote about this. If Columbus want to move up and get Cooley, it's to 2nd OA. Arizona aren't interested. Cooley is going to look good in a Coyotes sweater.

Considering Arizona is very heavily looking at Cooley at 3OA, you will have to try to make a deal with the Devils or with Montreal. I assume it will actually take more than that to even get Arizona to consider giving up their shot at Cooley.
