Description
Ducks Deal: The Ducks are facing expansion draft hell. If they deal a D man, they can protect their valuable forward corps and risk only the injured Vatanen as exposed, betting Vegas will forego the injury risk in favor of a less risky pick. In this deal, the Ducks revamp their bottom 6 with 2 RFA cost controlled, effective forwards. Bonus is Lyubimov is expansion draft exempt. This is all not to mention that Morin is a blue chip, NHL ready, physical defenseman poised to fill Manson's void as he gains from experience. The deal is like for like in terms of style of defender. The Flyers of course are gaining a much further along physical D man to immediately man the right side next to Gostisbehere.

Vegas Deal: This is a cap dump for the Flyers and while not necessary this year, this might be the best time to do it given Vegas' clean slate and ravenous appetite for picks and prospects. They get both in this deal. Mind you Vegas can only select 10 out of contract players in the expansion draft. Here, they get Laughton's rights without expending one of those 10 slots.

Isles Deal: Cap dump for NYI in a weak goalie market. Flyers get an experienced netminder only with 1 year of term, making it ideal for cap management.

Over $7.3M for three seasons of Weise and MacDonald is prolly not the way to build a winner. It seems like us fans want Vegas to only take our team's crappy contracts in cap dumps without any regard that McPhee actually wants to be a competitive team and not an Arizona.

Isles will get a better deal for Halak. Probably a 3rd or 4th unless Garth wants lower level prospects back instead
