Description
Arizona trade looks very possible. Also gotta think they view Eller as a positive as they need people to play in AZ. He has no trade protection. 2023 is a strong draft and this is the draft in which they have the LEAST capital.

Sandin 100% signs that deal with this role.

I'd guess that Seattle takes the deal - it's obvious they're looking to add. Hakstol has experience with both of these and the Leafs were worried about having them poached during expansion.

Campbell signs that deal a la Kris Letang (too many years, and brings the AAV down slightly)

Oh, but I forgot. Vancouver declines for whatever reason?

Can someone please walk me through why the caps would make an eller / muzzin swap, let alone pay to do so

Man, it that ever a massive overpay by Seattle for two expiring UFAs, a minor leaguer, and Seattle still finishes out of the playoffs.
Absolutely no reason for Washington to take that deal or NTC Muzzin.
Wow, that has to be the most lopsided deals for a third line winger and a second pair Dman. Cut the assets going to Arizona in half and the Leafs still decline
Way too much term for Copp and Campbell

Lots of term for the UFAs, but that's what you gotta do these days to keep costs down. Paul in Tampa, Letang in Pittsburgh, Forsberg's AAV is low, but it was 8 years. You can shorten term, but dollars go up.

Not an overpay by Seattle at all? SDA is a 21 year old prospect, and with their botched expansion draft, they need projects. Kerfoot is worth a second and Holl is definitely worth a 3rd. Low-risk moves for guys that instantly improve the roster, and gives them flexibility at the deadline to move on from Soucy and great value there. Let's be honest, if you think Seattle is making the playoffs to begin with, I shouldn't waste time responding to you.

Crouse isn't a 3rd line winger, but he is on the Leafs because they get Copp in this scenario who can take care of 2nd line C if Tavares gets injured. Miss me with your Chychrun hate trash - dude's a stud defenseman on a smoking deal.

Someone HAS to play left side for Washington. They need to cheapen the Eller role - especially if they want to go after Kuemper.

Orlov - Carlson
TVR - Jensen
Fehervary - xxxx??

That's why you need Muzzin or someone like him. He fits the Caps style of play, and allows Orlov to play 2nd pairing with Muzzin and pushes TVR down. Unless you like 20-25 minutes of TVR, hey be my guest fella.

Sorry, two of those trades are just wish fantasy by a Leaf fan. No Kerfoot and Holl are not worth that to Seattle. Maybe a contender at TDL. SDA...really isn't an NHL prospect
Washington needs centres with Backstrom on LTIR. But really what is Muzzin's motivation to waive his NTC? Because you want cap space for your fantasy team?
IMO a horrid trade for the Leafs with Arizona.
And after all that still a non practical 21 man roster and no 7th NHL Dman
