Description

Step 1: Clear cap space by moving Peterson and Zucker. Add Kapanen to Zucker and maybe a pick or something to move them on.
Step 2: Resign Malkin but move him to wing. Resign Rakell as he worked out well.
Step 3: Take the big swing and sell Kadri on teaming with Sid and having Malkin as his wing man.
Athanasiou adds size and speed to the bottom six.
Opens up spots for younger guys and POJ.
Yes I'm aware this is a big long shot requiring a lot of moving pieces. But, Would be a good lineup IMO.

I agree...one can hope right? When the Pens got him I thought it was a good deal. But the dude can not stay healthy. Decent player when healthy, but considering availability and production, he hasn't lived up to the contract. would be nice to move on from him and use that cap for something else. If not, his cap space opens up next year.
