I know lou has said many times he wants to keep varly but i think he would move him if gaudreau became available.
This should be a competitive offer for samsonov who works with another russian goalie and the goalie whisperer mitch korn who has raised every goalies game that hes worked with. (Sorokin is great greiss and lehner both declined when they left and varly got better in NY)
Should also be a competitive offer for gaudreau who might see a brand new arena/state of the art facilities plus a team that has had big recent playoff success as an attractive option. Its also pretty close to home for him.
Varlys getting moved to make room for JG so theres no time to hold out and wait for the best offer from a desperate team. You take what you can get and move on.

Agreed with the original premise. If we can sign Samsonov, I'm sure Lou would feel a lot more comfortable about moving Varlamov.

yeah i am all in on samsonov. he’s got a lot of potential and could easily be a really solid 1B at a cheaper price with our goalie coaches, plus he’s also russian.

i also would love to see us take a flier on sonny milano. his underlyings are solid and he’s a long islander which i love. probably just a third line guy but could be a cheap forward group upgrade if he hits

I would agree with you but we have enough middle 6 wings as it is. No need to get another even if he is an isles fan.
