Why would Calgary make either of these trades?

I dislike both of them

I think they're selling high on Kylington, with the Weegar deal Kylington would play bottom pairing minutes where I don't think he fits at all, he's also a year away from UFA coming off his best season. I don't think it's repeatable with Zadorov as a partner.

The Flames have had Dube like prospects for years, they have Pelletier in the system, Zary and good sized left shot prospect, Kerins, Petersson, I like Dube but if you can bring in the experience and production of Killorn for a season to try get them over the edge I do it. It also provides the Flames with cap space next off season to look at extending the new guys and in a great FA class.

Kyli was a second round pick originally and he has proven to be a top 4 D so not sure how this is selling high on him!

He was not good without Tanev, he's taken 7 pro seasons to put together a respectable one, he will not be playing in the top 4 this season if it's Hanifin, Tanev, Andersson, Weegar, he won't put up close to the same season and then his value next off season is no where near as high as it is right now. If the Flames look to hold onto him long term it will need to be a 3M+ contract this off season to have him play on the bottom pairing.
There are still a ton of warts to his game, he can be a turnover machine that was well covered my Tanev and can often skate himself well out of position. Getting a couple picks back for a guy with 168 NHL games and one decent season is a good enough return.

I think the 2nd and 4th need to be swapped on the tampa deal.
