I am one that questions Ottawa's want ot need to deal for Chychurn.
I am not about to say the Sens don't need an upgrade on the 2nd pairing - they do. But, with Sanderson making the team this year (he should anyway), and Bernard-Docker and Thomson is the system on the right side still with a side of Aspirot; find a better stop gap than Hamonic would be a far better move.
In 2023-24, the blueline will be young and talented:
Chabot-Zub
Sanderson-Branström
Holden-Bernard-Docker/Thomson
Zaitsev
I am one to see if Branström continues his development (he looked solid down the strech) as he just maybe that 2nd pairing guy..... and for me, Thomson longer term is likely that guy.
Chychurn is a very good D, but the Sens are simply too loaded for that move to make much sense right now. If they were a Stanley Cup contender, that changes the conversation. They are not. They are a team that possibly challenges for a wildcard. Let the kids play to see if Chychurn is actually needed.
