Description
To me the Sens have no reason to trade either Greig and Pinto. Greig can be NHL ready to start this season or if not, I do not mind him playing top 6 minutes in Belleville. Plus, since his ELC still has 3 years left, that is perfect timing for Giroux's deal to end to figure out where Greig will fit on the team.
For Pinto, last year I wanted Pinto to start the season in Belleville to get some time playing top 6 minutes before joining Ottawa full time. I was impressed by his short stint at the end of the 2020-21 season, but I always see benefit to top prospects getting top line minutes in the minors. He was clearly ready for the NHL to start the 2021-22 season, so I was fine with it.

If the Sens want to trade for a top 4 dman, I would say anyone is available except for the top 6, Chabot, Sanderson, Zub, Joseph, Greig, Pinto and one of JBD or Thomson.

If I was ARI I would take the deal asap before OTT can change their minds.

The problem is Arizona is under no obligation to trade Chychrun to Ottawa. Plenty of teams would be interested in adding a player like him on his deal. You simply aren't going to get him without a top prospect included

I am one that questions Ottawa's want ot need to deal for Chychurn.

I am not about to say the Sens don't need an upgrade on the 2nd pairing - they do. But, with Sanderson making the team this year (he should anyway), and Bernard-Docker and Thomson is the system on the right side still with a side of Aspirot; find a better stop gap than Hamonic would be a far better move.

In 2023-24, the blueline will be young and talented:

Chabot-Zub
Sanderson-Branström
Holden-Bernard-Docker/Thomson
Zaitsev

I am one to see if Branström continues his development (he looked solid down the strech) as he just maybe that 2nd pairing guy..... and for me, Thomson longer term is likely that guy.

Chychurn is a very good D, but the Sens are simply too loaded for that move to make much sense right now. If they were a Stanley Cup contender, that changes the conversation. They are not. They are a team that possibly challenges for a wildcard. Let the kids play to see if Chychurn is actually needed.

the thing is they want a another defencement to legitimatly challenge for a wildcard spot not to mention inulating there young defencemen and not rush them
