This is pretty bad for the Sabres. 4mil x 5years for UPL is a massive overpay for someone who hasn’t played 15 NHL games. Way too much to give up for Keller. I also don’t think we’ll be able to afford Dobson like that, In 2 years Power and Dahlin could both be making 8+ and having 3 defensemen making that much really limits what we can pay our forwards.

Maybe, youd have about 25-26mil after this season to resign or extend whoever and at the end of the 23/24 season you would have another 19-20mil to use to extend or sign players, but i do agree with the term lengthy and price of UPL could be 3yr x 2-2.5mil.
But i dont see krebs/cozens/thompson/middlestat or samuelsson having long that 3-5yr x 3-6mil on this next contract
