Description
Even talking about this kind of trade as a RW fan is taboo. The #1 Michigan Man could never leave.. But let's play with the idea and let me know what tweaks to make this happen.

Calgary Fans - I think Rasmus Andersson is pretty darn great. But trading 'only' him for Larkin is just not a reasonable trade. Therefor, Detroit can 'offload' some that Calgary cap space by taking on Lucic. Yes, there is a slight loss in his gritty playstyle but it would be worth it considering the extra Larkin would bring.

Now, even by adding Lucic, the value for Larkin is still not covered, so a late 1st round pick next year would fill that remaining gap.

Detroit fans - Let's assume Lalonde did something 'bad'. Like that he (god forbid) slept with Larkins mother or sister, Dylan found out, and things got really awkward. After not being able to reconcile the thought of Lalonde dancing the primal mambo with his mom/sister, Dylan would confront Derek while drunk. A bar brawl would ensue. Dylan would land a couple of punches but after some wrestling Derek would grapple him and talk him down enough to walk away. So having said this...

Rasmus Andersson would add that very valuable righty RD until 26/27 at least. Lucic would help show/train that valuable grit needed for the young ones for one season (then who knows). I don't how exactly, but there is time to help fill that gap up top which Larkin would leave behind. Patience.

Also, it somehow feels like Mo would be able to carry the C in Larkin's stead. Honoring Dylan and all Detroit's fans.

Larkin would then go on to win the Stanley Cup in Calgary playting in their first line with Huby and Elias Lindholm at least 3 times, until Detroit dethrone them in like 4-5 years from now.

And then they all walked into the sunset.

THE END.

Who knew that a a few beers too many down at the Hockeytown Cafe would lead to that fiery passionate night between the coach of an NHL team and the mother (or sister) its Team Captain, which in turn would lead to such a earth shattering event as Larkin being traded out?

Sexy.

But I don't think Detroit needs a D and a pick.

Organizationally, they lack C depth, for any serious replacement for him at 1C level.

So, I wouldn't see him moving out, unless there is something else going on to get that 1C, like flipping that 1st pick.

Because as you so sexily said, that 1st pick would be 32nd OA.

Detroit finally rid themselves of the bad contracts and are on the upswing, losing Larkin without an immediate replacement would be a step backwards.

Detroit seems pretty set at RHD, don't see why they'd do this and with Tanev being so injury prone Calgary really shouldn't do this either, they have good center depth too so doesn't make a lot of sense for them.

If Lalonde dances the primal mambo with Larkin then he needs to be fired ASAP. Larkin being traded would need to happen as well. Just fold the franchise at this point.
