Description
Based off of the sentiments and wants of some Leafs' fans, I tried to come up with a trade that the two GMs would be happy with if they were to make a Marner trade.

Rationale:

Marner-
Tor: Shake up the core + fill out some needs by reallocating Marner's cap
Sea: They lack superstar power, and are made up of a bunch of line 2/3 players (imo). With Berniers + Marner (+Wright), they should be able to attract UFAs in the short-term. Marner has a huge AAV and only 3 years of team control, but they replacing the top prospect with a good established player instead.

Holl-
TOR: The fans want to drive him out
SEA: Temporary replacement, if he does well then can look at an extension.

McCann-
TOR: This is mainly for his TML fans, he can obviously produce, not sure if he can PK but I think a real target for the Leafs in this would be someone who can. For that reason, Bjorkstrand might be a more realistic target for the Leafs but the whole point of this ACGM is to send McCann back.

Larsson:
TOR - Replaces Holl and would hopefully be the shutdown RD that they need.
SEA - SEA might have some decent RHD FA options next year or Holl may work out. They would need to make more moves to acquire that RD though. SEA still needs to move out 3.903m to accept Marner+Holl which means they would have to trade Donskoi 3.9m contract out (would be in a different trade). Donato or Geekie could be thrown in as sweetners/moved in a different move to make space for Wright in the line up.

SEA 2023 1st (top 3 protected)
-TOR: With Marner being a former 4th OV pick, I think that's the maximum protection that they will allow SEA to have, especially since this trade is centered around established players and not a top prospect.
SEA-Needs no explanation except that they may be willing to forgo the 4th/5th OV picks to get a top player now.

SEA conditional 2023 2nd (turns into 2024 1st if SEA makes the playoffs)
TOR - if they are trading Marner, they will want to be able to draft top end talent in this deep draft who will be able to make the team in the next couple of years.
SEA-Might be too much, maybe too little, but the Leafs will need more than 3 1st in value (with at least the potential for 4), and I don't think the extra picks that McCann and Larsson could bring would be considered. SEA might not want to give up 4 1st in value straight up since Marner only has 3 years.
Trades
1.
SEA
  1. Holl, Justin
  2. Marner, Mitchell
Additional Details:
For the "Break up the core 4" and "Holl must go!" movements, read Description for rationale/conditions.

Do I think the Leafs should trade Marner? No.
TOR
  1. Larsson, Adam
  2. McCann, Jared
  3. 2023 1st round pick (SEA)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (SEA)
Additional Details:
This is for the McCann TML fans, read Description for rationale/conditions.

Potential Sweetners/cap components: Geekie or Donato or gift of 3.9m in cap cleared.
2.
SEA
ARI
  1. Donskoi, Joonas
Additional Details:
Anywhere for whatever. Just showing that they need to clear 3.9m, they already have extra forwards. They could move other guys to make the cap work too/give Wright a spot to play.

It is a little, maybe but it's like that for a reason. Perhaps I should have made it McCann+Larsson+2 1sts straight up. There's no way that SEA would include Berniers (and probably Wright) since Marner only has 3 years of term, while giving two good established roster players who are signed beyond that. The trade is built around McCann, as a joke since some TML fans have him that much ahead of Kerfoot. I do think the trade is realistic though.

I think the Leafs would need a prospect of some sort but I don't know anything about the SEA prospect pool, but SEA wouldn't be giving 5 A-assets for Marner at 10.9mx3. The Leafs are probably going to lose the trade, especially in hindsight unless they draft someone who is just as good as Marner with those picks.

yeah its hard to make star player trades work because the team trading the star is allmost allways gonna lose
