Sorry but a cap dump of more than 4 mil for 2 years is going to cost a 2023 1st round pick. The Sens can keep the rest of the package though, so Zaitzev + 2023 1st for future considerations

They will be holding on to that 2023 first round pick.

    Hilarious thread

"Ottawa is last in the division and desperation to make a big change might set in soon. They need cap space for that so it makes sense to start shedding"

Then proceed to give a top prospect and two picks for a move that wouldn't do anything.

Ottawa doesn't need cap space right now

If they were sick and tired to see Zaitsev, they could send him to the AHL (like they did with Del Zotto last season)

He's also a CHEAP buyout in terms of $$$ next offseason

If the cap goes to 86.5 AAV, he'll be bought out

Even if the cap doesn't go to 86.5 AAV, they can opt to pay his 2.0 bonus then "dump" the rest of his contract, which would be only 1 year at 2.5

Sens won't spend a 1st round pick to dump him tears of joy

That's fine the Sens can keep him and their 1st, I wasn't saying they should do it, I was only saying that it would cost a 1st to dump Zaitzev
