Description
Okay okay okay. I know this is the craziest trade ever thought of. Why would the Canucks, a bad team, trade for EK65? This trade only works under the belief that part of Vancouver's defensive struggles are because the defense, namely the RHD, can't move the puck up ice to save their lives. EK65 solves that. The Canucks are already pretty balls deep into this "window" with EP40, QH43 & Demko so they're going all in. It might be too much from the Canucks side but you have to figure 1st Rounder to get out from the Myers deal, a 1st to get out of Pearson + Poolman and then it's pretty much Lekkerimaki for EK65 straight up.
On the Sharks side they have to spend equal salary the next year but get out from all the extra salary a few years earlier plus get some first round picks and a good prospect. They'll be worse right now while spending the same money but they'll have cap space earlier with more prospects.

TLDR; Vancouver tries to get good now, San Jose tries to get good in 2 years.

I think you're giving too much for one and adding too much cap that you probably don't have to, demote Stillman and its only $200K of dead cap space. Poolman is likely to be on LTIR at some point or he could be buried in the AHL too for not much of a cap hit to Van, he'd be $1.375M of dead cap if he's sent to Van or could maybe be bought out.
The advantage to SJ would be getting out of the Karlsson deal much sooner so one year of Myers and Pearson really shouldn't be that big of a deal to them imo but gawd knows there'll be others that'll say otherwise.. lol

Whats Dermott going to have done to be worth $2M, could maybe let him walk and sign some cheaper depth dmen for a bit of cap savings.

Would be a crazy risky move to acquire EK65 but who knows, could possibly work.

Canucks aren't trading all of that for Karlsson

VAN - SJ trade doesn't make much sense since they both should be rebuilding but you could drop the 2025 1st off of this and I still think SJ would accept with Lekkerimäki and the 2023 1st being the big pieces.
If SJ is trading EK65 then they're finally admitting to the rebuild and probably don't care about taking cap back. Some of that cap will come off the books sooner than EK's contract.
EK says no to the trade anyway, so doesn't matter
