they can make the cap work to keep him this year, so caps need more than a 4th to move eller. 3rd at least for a western team, 2nd to PIT, NYR, or NYI, or NJD

I am genuinely curious, has Kapanen been so bad as to needing a 3rd round pick to dump his cap?

When you're a team that is being forced to be cap compliant mid-season, you have NO leverage. WSH is in no position demand much of anything.

That said, I'd stay away. I don't know that Eller is much better than Carter at this point. Plus, WSH needs to free up cap space, so retaining doesn't make much sense for them.

Terrible. But Hextall has also been adamant that he's not adding incentive to take his players. Not sure if he'll change his tune to correct his error, but he's lived up to pretty much everything he's said.

short answer is no.... i doubt it... but he doesn't have nearly the value he did when we acquired him and sent a B prospect and a 1st to acquire him...

for the first several games he's been invisible.....
last few weeks he is surprisingly just below a point-per-game...
but i suspect if he's moved it's just as the "salary player with minimal value" in a bigger move... he shows flashes for sure...
personally i'd give him another month or 10 games... if he disappears again then i'd look to move him but he has shown improvement lately...
