Deadline Deals

Leafs pass on Lafferty unless he brings something I don't know about (don't know much about him). We don't really need depth forwards. 1 top winger with centre potential is our one real need.

Lafferty is a strong bottom 6 forward with the potential to play further up in the lineup as a complementary piece. He isn't gonna be the star of the show, but he can hang. With the right chemistry/players around him, I truly believe he could play anywhere in a top 9 and be successful. That being said, I think he still has a lot to show, he has admittedly taken a step back from offense this season to work on his defensive game among other things. It's something the coaching staff asked him to do, to help him become a more well rounded 200ft player. I think he could be a legit part of CHI's future by the time his next contract comes due after next season, if CHI wants to go that route. And I do think our GM likes him a lot. So, it's possible.

In summary, he is easily worth a 3rd round pick and has the potential to be worth a lot more to whatever team trades for him or for CHI if they hang onto him.
