It really just doesn't make sense at this point to go for chychrun, not to mention I'm 90% sure that offer is easily beat by a contender that wants to really cup contend, also Hornqvist has an unspoken deal with florida to not be traded, so that just wouldn't happen
Maybe, but what contender is dealing a top 4 dman and a high in the round 1st for chyrchrun? Or has the cap space without throwing in a cap dump.
ARZ is stocked in 2025 for picks, so if a contender had the commodities, they'd have to beat Sanheim and offer 2 1sts, a 2023 and 2024 probably to up that offer and throw in a midlevel prospect. Toronto for example, I've seen on here, Rasmus Sandin (not a top 4 dman YET, playing just 16 minutes a night, even on a team that has had multiple injuries on defense), a 1st in 2023 and 2024 are probably around 23rd at best, and they'd have to create space so ARZ would have to take back an expiring UFA they dont want like Kerfoot or Engvall. IMO, Sanheim is a better bet than Sandin, the FLA 2024 1st is probably at least 10 spots above the TOR 2024, and the compensation (O'Brien) 2nd is in 2024.
Ultimately, Chyrchrun, with his injuries, is not worth tons and tons, and theres few contenders who could offer as good a package. I think anything above the PHI offer is too much and the only suitors who can make that happen this year, are probably not contenders. As I said above, I dont know if the difference between Sanheim and Chyrchrun is a 1st, a 2nd and a prospect, I just dont think it is.
