Description
A very active *hypothetical* trade deadline for the 2022-2023 Edmonton Oilers.

We all know this isn't going to happen, as Ken Holland will be in bed by 6:00pm on deadline day.

However, this is meant to represent the Oilers going "all-in" and mortgaging their future for win-now mode.

It is 10:00PM on a Thursday, so cut me some slack if these deals are out of line. Though I am open to feedback!
Trades
1.
FLA
  1. Ceci, Cody
  2. 2024 4th round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
*Under the assumption the Panthers begin to sell in some capacity*

Panthers get some stability on their right side with Ceci under contract the next couple of seasons and would perform well on their 2nd pairing. Panthers fans, is this enough for Gudas as a rental?

Oilers get a rental in Gudas for their (hopeful) playoff run. He has been performing well and would be a solid option for the Oilers otherwise weak right side.
2.
ARI
  1. Bourgault, Xavier
  2. Foegele, Warren
  3. Puljujärvi, Jesse
  4. 2023 1st round pick (EDM)
  5. 2024 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
The Big OneTM

Arizona gets 2 roster players in Pujujarvi and Foegele, a solid forward prospect in Bourgault (top 6 winger potential), a 2023 first and a 2024 second.

The Oilers get a solid two-way top-4 defenseman in Chychrun and a defensive bottom-6 centre in Bjugstad.

Is this a competitive enough bid for Chychrun and Bjugstad? Let me know.
3.
EDM
  1. Duclair, Anthony
  2. 2024 5th round pick (PHI)
FLA
  1. Ryan, Derek
  2. 2023 2nd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
An interesting one.

Florida has no cap space to activate Duclair.

Florida gets some cap flexibility and a shifty defensive bottom 6 forward who can win them some faceoffs, as they are 23rd in the league in FOW%.

In return, the Oilers take a bit of risk but potentially get a strong winger in Duclair who can make an impact in top 6.
4.
EDM
    Future considerations.
    ANA
    1. Barrie, Tyson
    2. Schaefer, Reid
    3. 2023 3rd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
    An unfortunate cap casualty.

I love Barrie, great guy. But his cap hit is unfortunate and is brutal for, essentially, a third paring guy. This provides the Oilers with some cap flexibility with injuries heading into the playoffs.

For the Ducks, they get a Klingberg replacement (assuming they don't resign him) in Barrie who can be traded as a rental at next years deadline or in the off-season for assets. They also receive the equivalent of a late first round pick in Schaefer who could be a potential strong bottom 6 forward and matches their timeline.
    5.
    EDM
    1. O'Reilly, Ryan ($3,750,000 retained)
    2. 2023 4th round pick (STL)
    Additional Details:
    *DOUBLE RETAINED*
    STL
    1. Lavoie, Raphael
    2. Petrov, Matvei
    3. 2024 1st round pick (EDM)
    4. 2025 3rd round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
    This is going all-in.

The Oilers trade a 2024 1st, and 2025 3rd, and F Matvei Petrov (a high-scoring Russian winger top 5 in OHL scoring) in exchange for Ryan O'Reilly.

This trade assumes O'Reilly's salary is double retained by a third team. To this third team, FW Raphael Lavoie is headed. A big, scoring NHL-potential winger currently on fire in the AHL after returning from injury.

    Blues fans, is this enough?

Barrie has been arguably our best d-man this year if anything he should go for a first?

If guys like Edmundson are going for a first then why does Barrie (who is much better) being treated like a cap dump?? Every other move you've made is pretty good (though i'm not the biggest fan of the ceci gudas swap it's not objectively bad I just like Ceci a ton)

Barrie is a top-4 dman rn we shouldn't trade him and if we do he goes for a first

The panthers are a much better team than the first half of the year. They may sell gudas for the right return but this one isn’t it. If ceci was a ufa after the year. Then maybe but they dont need pricey 3rd pair rhd they need lhd to play top line with ekblad. Plus gudas has been silently one of the better d man I. The league this year so I doubt they sell him and probably resign him since they are going for the playoffs as well
