And if you were Jim Montgomery would you really have Bjugstad as 3RW over Frederic? That would be bad.

yeah that confuses me - Bjugstad is the prototypical deadline 4C acquisition, and has Frederic ever really been a true C? Makes the most sense to flip those two spots.

But I don't think this is enough to get Chych anyway, FWIW - the 1st & Lohrei (with the Grz contract going back) are fair, but I think it needs one more decent piece.

If we assume that the 3rd covers Bjugstad with retention, I think the last piece would need to be better than Merkulov. And there's no need for the 7th, IMO - their value in a trade is close to nil.

The most valuable piece going to arizona is grzelcyk by a long shot. It makes more sense to move him for futures in a separate deal, but this is the lazy option I guess

Agree with you on both points - if you're moving Grz, it would make more sense to move him for futures (he easily gets back a 2nd & a strong prospect as the absolute basement of his value), then use one of those assets to package in this Chych trade. He's gonna have less value to Arizona, because what are they going to do with him beyond trying to trade him for the next year and a half?

I think the other positive to that plan is that if you've moved Grz for other assets, you can probably shove Mike Reilly's contract into the Chych deal and get that off your books. I think the market has shown us this year that sellers are open to taking back bad contracts if it helps them meet their asking price, and I would assume Arizona would have zero problem with that.

I think the plan is to not even approach arizona about chychrun, and has been taht way since the lindholm trade.

I would expect a first+ for grzelcyk. His contract is awesome.

Three way trade:
To Boston: Chychrun, Bjugstad
To Edmonton: Grzelcyk
To Arizona: Lohrei, BOS 23 1st, EDM 23 1st, Puljujarvi, Reilly.
