Description
Heres the predicament,
I don't know who to cheer for for Isles games anymore, I want Bo to do well, but I want the best possible pick and that trumps everything. My thinking is that we should cheer for NYI to get as close as possible without going under the 13th OA pick, that way we have the guarantee of a high draft pick.

yet at the same time, should we be cheering for them to do even worse and then pushing the pick to unprotected next year? but heres the catch, if it slips to next year, it gives NYI the chance to be better next year and then the pick could be lower down in a shallower draft.

I am torn, I need opinions on this

Root for them to just barely make the playoffs so you get a pick in the 16-20 range which is only marginally worse than a pick in the 13-15 range. (If you care about Bo Horvat getting in the playoffs)?

If the draft pick slides to next year NYI will guaranteed try to get better probably by trading the protected pick for another piece.

You should also tank hard next year because Chicago has your 2nd rounder.

How about them getting 13th, then doing well next year and so do we so Chacago doesnt get that good of a pick.

looks like you guys won that trade, you have a new 1C out of it

i think 13 OA is best case. unproctected pick would be nice but the 2024 draft is weaker and the 2023 player will get to the league quicker. and if the isles pick in the top 12 this year i wouldnt be shocked if they moved that pick in order to bolster their team knowing they wont have their 2024 pick. If sorokin walks its a different story tho bc without him next year the pick would probably be higher than 12.

Also some good RHD to target in the 2nd half of the 1st round this year. Axel Sandin Pellika(doubt he makes it to the canucks 2nd pick) David Reinbacher, Dragecivic. Canucks could also move down with one of their picks to get some picks back and bolster the cupboards

I am real high on Dragecivic and Reinbacher, I think its risky but moving down 3-4 slots could get a 2nd and in this draft that would be huge

agreed, watched reinbacher at WJs and i think he will end up being a steal in a few years. all depends where both of the picks are. there are really a few tiers in the first round. 1 , 2-4 , 5-6 , then like 7-12. If a guy like Sale, Barlow, ASP, Dvorsky are there with the 2nd pick you defenetly do not move down imo. Best case is we get bedard at 1(please, im begging), trade isles 13OA for like 20OA and a 2nd. get reinbacher
