For taking Goodrow's Cap Hit off the books for the Rangers (before next year's impending Cap Crunch), Drury agrees to give up more than he needs to for Kane.

Chicago has no leverage at the moment, due to Kane's NMC being specifically pointed at Broadway.

By weaponizing all their upcoming Cap space, they get a much better package for Kane than they could get without taking on Goodrow.

Rangers give up more, yes. But they get Kane. They shed 2 Prospects that don't seem to have a future in NY. And they dump Goodrow's excessively long Contract. That extra Cap space comes in handy when they deal with their RFA's next year (Lafreniere, Chytil, K'Andre).

Poor Goodrow gets screwed, but Lafferty basically takes on his role instead.
