That's a good look to trade Copp in the first year of his deal. UFA's will be lining up to sign in Detroit after that.

Detroit passes on all trades, If we're going all in then we aren't trading Bertuzzi.

I'll take 5 years of Copp over less than 2 months of Patrick Kane.

Arizona passes on the Chychrun trade.

Detroit passes on the Klingberg trade.

Not giving up Hronek and 2 1st for Erik Karlsson, This doesn't make us better. And it only hurts us in the future.

1. Arizona passes. - One of the worst defensemen in the league at a premium, A (good) depth forward, a 1st, and a 2nd doesn't get you Chychrun.
2. Detroit passes. - Klingberg, like Chariot, is one of the worst defensemen in the league.
3. Detroit passes. - If we're gunning for a playoff spot, we need wingers. We don't have top wingers - why get rid of one?
4. Detroit pass and San Jose passes. - Even if we do the Colorado trade, trading two 1st and a quality top 4 defensemen for (granted one of the best defensemen in the league) is not worth it for a team like Detroit. Yzerman hates trading draft picks, let alone 1st rounders. Plus, Karlsson is old and aging. He is a win-now defensemen, where Red Wings are Win-Soon.
San Jose also declines since only receiving two 1sts to retain 5.25M for 5 years is hardly worth it.
5. Detroit passes. Kane most definitely doesn't pass Yzerman's allegedly high moral standards. Not to mention, he's barely worth a 1st rounder, let alone a recent UFA signing and a 2nd.
