Hawks decline. Despite the attraction of a Raddysh bro reunion, Hawks will get a '23 pick back for Lafferty

A top-4 RD on a dirt cheap contract, also playoff-proven (51 PO games) comparable trades is Chiarot, Savard, Gavrikov, Schenn, Gudbranson etc etc.

Even if all that is true, why is TB making this absurd trade?

A 1st, another comparable, cheap, young Dman and a decent prospect....what?

The 1st is 3 drafts away, Cal Foote isn't that young (he was drafted 6 years ago somehow), and ABB is a 25 year old UDFA who has 9 points in 32 NHL games despite video game numbers in the AHL - I wouldn't call him a prospect.

To me, the comp for a Mayfield trade is last year's Josh Manson deal, which got Anaheim back a 2nd and Drew Helleson. Helleson has more upside than Foote, and when you combine that with the fact that the Isles have to wait 3 years for the pick to convey, I don't think it's crazy to bump the 2nd to a 1st.
