Dream Trade

For Winnepeg, I think Samberg can be a future top 4 Defensive D, seems like someone who is just a bit slow to develop but I think given he was scratched a couple weeks ago and if you are the Jets you don't know how many more seasons you have this core together or a star goalie. It feels like you have to patch up some holes and try to win something in a weak western conference. Holl for all his faults was incredible as a top pairing gut for 1/2 months when we had injuries. His ceiling in high but he is very inconsistent that's his knock. The Jets love these big bruising defensive D and Holl and Been fit that bill. Having them as your 5th and 7th D would make Winnepeg's defense considerably better on paper going into the playoffs this year so I think its a deal Winnepeg would consider, they aren't selling the farm or rising much but with this plus the nino deal they will have significantly improved their depth.

For Toronto, this trade clears enough cap space to bring back Murrary without costing any of our forwards.

I don't see Kerfoot being traded. He has the trust of Keefe, can fill in for injuries in the top 6. We wouldn't have paid for retention on the O'Reilly deal if we were just gonna trade Kerfoot and clear up $3.5M makes no sense to now clear that much when we need just $1M when we just paid Minnesota 4th to save less than $2M in cap space.
