Quoting: Xspyrit
And yeah, all that being said, if I am the Flames I extend Hanifin and trade other players instead
Hanifin only has a year left and will be due a good raise
I don't think you're aware of how the Sens value Ridly Greig and Tyler KlevEn.
Remove Kleven and I 100% wouldn't do it. Remove Greig and I'd be very hesitant
That's IF the Sens would have a need for another D-man.
What Ottawa needs to do is change the whole direction/vision by changing the GM and coaching staff
Then rebuild the bottom-6 group that the current GM completely neglected.
If Hanifin extends for $6.25mil/yr, sure, but I have a feeling he's going to want more and/or to head back East closer to BOS. We also prefer More Aggressive D-Men and Weegar may have unseated Hanifin as our 1-LD, so going cheaper at 2-LD would allow us to spend more money elsewhere. That said, Kylington is more likely to be moved, but without knowing his personal issues and future, it will be very difficult to move him. Zadorov might make more sense to move as well, but we need a Big Mean Penalty Killing D-Man to replace him. Maybe that's Dennis Gilbert already
OTT seems loaded with LD's, but if they want a Stud LD now, I could see them giving up the Future for the Present in Klevin. Food point on 1 year left, perhaps Hanifin likes OTT better because of either Coach Sutter or the Team make-up, so signs an extension, making it a Sign & Trade, but Deadline Deals for guys like Hanifin are still very rich acquisitions, which is what we'd want for Hanifin
OTT just needs Better or More Consistent Goaltending, another Top-RD and yes, Bottom-6 Defensively Responsible Depth & Penalty Killers and they will be very dangerous, just like NJD
