Counterpoint, Kings will keep Grans and don't want Edmundson because paying someone the league minimum would be on par with how he played this season.

If the Kings can't land a quality free-agent LhD like Gavrikov or Graves, then I could see us continue to go with Durzi at #2 LhD and picking up Edmundson for a third as the bottom-pairing LhD, but I don't see any other appealing scenario.

Outside his +/- not much has changed for Eddy play wise outside not having a consistent partner
I mean man are his stats not great and by no means is he an Analytic's darling but again he's on pace for Career high in Blocked Shots , On Par hits wise with the Average and point wise were talking a spread of 3-11 points difference from his career high , average and low as a rookie of 9 and outside that is offensive numbers are on par with the average.

Im not saying Injury concerns arent there , they 100% are he's started the last 3 straight years on IR with back injuries
But that has not impacted his on ice consistency again outside +/- which is a team stat and when referenced has to be compared to the teams that year for true perspective.
Otherwise its just a useless stat.

That said it doesnt mean Eddy's somehow playing different or changed when all other stats as a collective assert otherwise.
Say no due to injuries but lets not pretend he'd declined , Eddy is Eddy he's consistent on and off IR

He's surprisingly consistent
The key to him is simple , dont over use him.
His Size and Style of Play make him an ideal Playoff Piece , treat him like that.

MTL got him and he was on IR for his back as soon as we signed him from out under CAR .
We rested him a lot that year and relied on him a lot that SCF playoff run but since all our regulars retired or were traded so he's played more.
Look at his Game Logs he goes from 22-24 minutes to 15-16 minutes a game often its not 20 minutes a night steady like the stats make it seem
But if it was he'd likely be a lot better off as we over use him versus high shooting teams as he blocks a ton of shots.

The Less time he wastes in the regular season playing big minutes the better for him come playoffs

He can block and hit, but he also gives up the puck more than everyone except Kovacevic. Among the bottom for corsi, fenwick, PDO, and showing serious concern for durability. He is on a tanking team, full of defensive rookies, and he is looking worse than them. The Kings embrace analytic darlings and that is who they would be more likely to spend on, Add all that, to him having a 10-team NTC and LA doesn't have to overpay to get a player like him a 4th at half retained is close to his worth at this point. Grans will be an NHLer and a former 2nd round pick, I don't see equal value there.
