Just a couple of questions. First, who would be dumb enough to send a 3rd for Dermott, let alone only his RFA rights? You said it yourself, that he is a 7/8 dman. Second question, why is Seattle adding a 2nd to Borgen? It’s not like Hoglander and Rathbone have the high of value right about now, as last I checked they were somewhat struggling at the NHL level. Seems to me like that pick should be heading the other way.
You’re probably right about Dermott, he’s been injured the last couple season so a 4th is probably more accurate. Could definitely see some teams taking a chance on him though, especially a team like Philly where he’ll get lots of deployment.
As for the Borgen trade, Borgen is still just a bottom pairing d man, nothing too special. Hoglander has some of the most pedigree out of his draft class at the NHL level. In any redraft he’s a top 20 pick. He had 27 points in 56 games and has show he can become a top 6 player. He’s in the AHL this year to dominate and develop further not because he can’t play in the NHL.
Rathbone does not belong in the AHL, he was the most productive AHL d man last year. In a more defensive system like Seattle his flaws would be covered by the team structure and his partner, the Canucks just don’t have that. Could be a bottom pair PP2 quarterback back next year.
Seattle is cap strapped and Hoglander and Rathbone could be cheap and effective assets next year. I’d say a second is reasonable
