I don't hate the trade. Goligoski is old but he does bring a veteran presence that the team could sorely need (and he does have a Cup). Who knows where the Wild might finish in 2024, so that pick could be anything. Mason's whatever. I just think the LAK first will be used differently, probably packaged with a prospect or another pick for a younger, better single player.

A first in this draft is worth a lot more than a first in next years draft. The third and second are about equal value. Goligoski is 37 so hard pass

Agree. Goligoski is too old at this point and no major interest in Shaw.
I could see something like the Kings 2023 1st and a 2024 4th for Middleton, the Wild 2024 1st and 2025 2nd.

I know he is good which is why I suggested this option, but he also only has 2 years of term before he is UFA... So maybe remove the 2025 2nd and just have the trade as the Kings 2023 1st and a 2024 4th for Middleton and the Wild 2024 1st?
