    If we trade Jake we should just keep the draft picks/prospects and replenish our pool. Swapping him for Schmaltz (not really an upgrade) and then loosing Pickering in the process I dont think would be best course of action.

    That trade doesn't help Ottawa. Our defense is fine, the only reason we'd trade Joseph is for cap space, not to bring back a similarly priced player.

    Its more of getting someone who has been nearly point per game for a couple seasons now and who is signed longer term. He a little younger as well. Loosing Pickering shouldnt be the biggest issue. With the d core I have here hes unlikely to get a spot in the next 2-3 years unless we trade one of the LD. We have the draft capital to draft a dman if we need to.
