Did you see Matta get danced constantly last season? 15 points in 80 games? Doesn't seem like a proven top 4...

Playing 20 min a night in the playoffs on the b2b cup champs though... He's 22 and has had injuries impacting his development over the last 4 years. Looking at the FA signings this offseason, Maatta is turning into a steal at $4M/year. I was all right with trading him with the expansion looming, but the Penguins would be shooting themselves in the foot moving him at this point.

20 min a night because they had no one else to play. Streit should've actually seen time before matta. I like matta, but he hasn't proven himself in the slightest if he can't handle 20 minutes a night. Sure b2b champs, but matta had barely anything to do with that. His stock value right now is low and that's what he would be traded for so yes it's a fair trade.

He played a 3rd of every game, scored two goals, and added in 8 assists or something like that... This would be a terrible trade for the Penguins future. A 22 year old and a 3rd round pick for a guy who will walk and they find themselves in the same scenario they are in now.
