Description
A trade frenzy about bringing in a younger generation just entering the league, or bringing back hometown guys...

Too many moving parts for it all to happen, and the Canucks end up obviously better but which parts would you accept?

Dallas or Anaheim should be the easiest to say yes. Cap Dump + Lateral move + paying with not their best prospect.

Definitely would have gotten more for Gudbranson + Tanev from the Islanders. Maybe Barzal + Pulock.

I'm not sure if Tampa would give up Johnson + 2x 2nd + Raddysh for Duchene. Maybe they think they can get a better price with Duchene, and Yzerman or Stamkos like him. Brayden Point makes TJ a bit more expendable, and Duchene would play in more situations. I guess eliminate Raddysh or a 2nd is enough to flip that?

TJ just signed in Tampa for 5x7. Not too far off.
Might have a NMC, with a modified NTC for the last 1-3 years based on other Tampa contracts.
Either way with plenty of cap room and a steady pipeline of prospects, Tampa only makes the deal if they think Duchene as a 2C makes the team better.

Maybe I'm biased on some of these players, but I feel like some of these deals are really uneven.

Dallas trade-- Canucks get taken to the cleaners. They're giving up probably the two most valuable assets in that deal to take on two expiring contracts only to get Oleksiak? I'd like for the Canucks to acquire him, but he might be lucky to crack the lineup in Dallas this year.

Anaheim trade-- seems somewhat fair if the Ducks are trying to dump Bieksa's salary, but they'll need the extra Dmen at the beginning of the season with the injuries they have.

Arizona trade-- The Yotes are giving up the two younger and potentially better players.

Colorado trade-- Sakic is hospitalized with a hernia from the extent of his laughing fit upon hearing the offer. He's reportedly asking for the moon for Duchene, and Jost is basically untouchable for them.

Tampa trade-- Bolts giving up a little too much.

Ottawa trade-- Van giving up too much to get a little older. Turris is the best player in the deal at the moment, but Bo could be better in time.

The main advantage I see for the Canucks is surrounding Boeser/Dahlen/Pettersson with the best pieces possible, aware of the salary cap, in 2-3 years.
Also had a bit of fun bringing Vancouver players back, and letting Hamhuis + Bieksa retire as Canucks.

The Canucks don't need to make any of these trades to get to the same place. We'll probably have the right prospects in place at the current pace of draft+development, but this would give some more certainty of who the new young Cs and Ds would be and that they're ready on time.

Why trade Horvat? I'm a big fan of Jost, Steel, Barzal -- Horvat ends up being the oldest, and most expensive at that time.

Ottawa trade? Redundant players again. Turris is 27 and only 3.5 next season. Had to make cap space and roster space.

Remember, not shown are the guys posted in the AHL.

Bieksa + Hamuis? 1 year left each, and in 2 years Edler's contract is up too. Canucks shouldn't need that cap space for anything else, and they're probably uniquely the place B+H would waive their ironclad NMCs for.

Colorado? They go from 31st to 20th in one trade without trading away their future. They have Mackinnon + Compher as their top 2, this puts their other Cs to work. Nikita Tryamkin returns from Russia in 2 years and they win the trade by a landslide
