Description
This is ONLY if Cat refuses to sign a long term deal. I believe Ottawa will be a better team with Cat as I think he had a bad year behind an awful coach. However I do think Ottawa needs to target one of the Boston goalies. Swayman is the choice here due to age.

Boston not waiting 2 years for picks that will take another 3 years to develop.

You’ll need to go with a prospect or 2 in the org already.

Most likely Greig and a secondary piece. The 2nd piece could be a pick in a future draft.

Even this isn't cap compliant I suppose the question is whether the Canes think having a DeBrincat getting 25 points more points than Jarvis is worth the big difference in cap....maybe 5m starting next season, and the picks.

Canes definitely pass. Jarvis is off limits. Ottawa shot themselves in the foot when they underpaid to bring DeBrincat in (1st, 2nd, and 3rd for 1 year of DeBrincat with RFA expiry, 9mil QO). Now that he has no contract, with a 9mil QO, after a down year, you might get a return investment, but anything more is an overpayment. Probably looking at a Fiala return, where you get a 1st and a decent prospect. Canes 23 1st, 24 3rd, and Heimosalmi for DeBrincat’s RFA rights would be my counteroffer.

All good comments, all of which I agree with here. It will be interesting to see how the Sens navigate this off-season.
Shame Ottawa doesn't have a young goalie who put up great numbers this year...

I won’t be the ‘Jarvis is off limits’ Canes fan, I’ll at least give some reasons why he is extremely unlikely to be moved.

He’s still extremely young with a long RFA window still
Has another year on ELC within Canes championship window
He does have an upside moving into his 3rd season

In this deal presented, it is 100% dependent upon what DeBrincat’s extension looks like. The three facts above require DeBrincat to be on a team friendly deal for at least 3-5 years which seems EXTREMELY unlikely.
