Description
-- Dubas is hired as GM after Toronto lets him walk due to a poor 2nd round performance.

-- Todd Reirden and Andy Chiodo are Fired due to the poor PP and Goaltending.

-- Zucker re-signs at 4-5 years at 4.5mi per, he takes term over short term money to stay in Pittsburgh. He could make a tad more, however I wouldn't give him anything over 5 mil per.

-- Jarry is brought back on a short term, prove it deal. After a injury riddled season, Jarry bets on himself on a 2 year prove it deal in order to try and cash in big in what will be his final big contract after this one.

-- Pens take the L on Granlund and buy him out. The Buy out saves us 4mil this season and costs us 900k against the cap. He will then cost us 1.9 mil per season for the next 3.

-- Dubas brings in familiar faces in FA.

- Bunting brings a great two-way game and a scoring touch to the foward core that Granlund simply did not bring at all. Bunting can also play up and down the lineup which is something Sullivan values alot. He comes in at a price tag of 4mil for 6 years which does bring its risk, but he will be worth it. Another option would be Tyler Bertuzzi however, he is injury prone and would come in at a bigger AAV than Bunting.

- Noel Acciary is brought in to bring a physical presence to the bottom 6, but more importantly, a right handed center option to replace Jeff Carter. Sully values Carter simply because he's a right shot center who is good on the draw. So you bring in Acciari and it makes Carter useless and hopefully allows Sully to finally move Carter to the press box.

-- Alex Nylander and Ty Smith get a shot to earn full time jobs in the NHL.

- Alex Nylander gets the shot to play with Sid and Guentzel, the best position for him to succeed, If he fails to produce with both of them, we will officially know he isn't made for the NHL and we will move on from him.

- Ty Smith gets the 3rd pair role and a 2nd PP role as he looks to be a full timer this season with Dumo leaving.

- If any of them fail to make an impact and earn a full time role, the Pens would still be left with 1.8 mil plus the 800k or so from the player contract to go out and find a replacement for them which is something we did not have for most of last season.

  1. Hanifin, Noah
Additional Details:
(Comes with a 8 X 6.5 extension)

Hanifin is a very good TWD who would improve our defense big time. With the pens defense being kinda Iffy, they look to add a proven top 4 dmen who fits Sullivan's system pretty well in my opinion. Moreso than POJ who would be the odd man out for me

Pens are in a win now mode while Sid, Geno and Letang are still producing, The future doesn't matter as we will suck either way, Might as well try and win one last cup for the core.

Sullivan was also an advocat to go out and get Chychrun last season, So this season, he gets help in a different form.

Additional Details:
is #14 too much or not enough for Hanifin? LMK
I feel like it's fair value as the Flames look to re-tool and pens look to go all in for 1 last cup

Rutta signing was not usefull last season and id simply rather see Friedman get a full time shot on the 3rd pair. Flames take him back for cap reason and because they will most likely need another RD if stetcher walks

With Hanifin coming in, POJ is the odd man out with Ty Smith pushing for top 6 minutes.

Every flames fan will say they can get more for Hanifin. Honestly, it would come down to who else is offering and what's left on the board draft day. I would guess another pick would be involved.

Calgary won't be selling before they can discuss extensions first so the draft will have already happened

This and I don’t think they’d trade him until after free agency. Free agency has quite a few really good defensemen which would lower Hanifin’s value until after they all sign and Calgary can find a desperate team.

There are plenty of good top 4 LHD and top 4 D in general I’m free agency. There really isn’t a need to give up assets to a team for one that would be a pending UFA and likely cost more cap wise in extension than the players you can pick up in free agency.

That would assume you want to extend everyone. Dressing the same team as last year isn't wise. Nor is resigning guys in their 30s to long term extensions. Hanifin and Lindholm are a bit younger than the lot, but if a top 15 pick is on the table, they are going to listen.
