Description
The goal is not to win, but provide enough veteran talent to ease the burden on Bedard. Thought process is Pacriotetty could score if he ever recovers from his injuries. If he fails to play his contract could be covered by insurance. Overpaying for Foligno has a veteran with a high work ethic and leadership qualities to help Bedard. Both are one year deals that are tradeable Garland has top 6 talent. The team would be overall more competitive while still being in the lottery conversation.

No way is Chicago giving up draft capital for veterans, rebuilding teams don't do that.

Big no on Garland. I would overpay for a single year of Drouin at even 4 if you have to before committing to 3 years of Garland at 4.75 per in cap hit with his contract backloaded where he is making 6, 6 & 5 these next 3 years to add insult to injury. Drouin at 4 with two 2nd round picks is way > than Garland and a 3rd....as in not even close. Garland or Boesser or Beauvillier almost certainly have to be moved even if the Nucks figure out how to make Myer disappear completely (which should be just paying his Summer bonus and some mild pain in a mid round pick). None of those players are true dumps in that they are good NHL players that remotely resemble their caphit/contracts. I do think one will end up as a cap casualty where they get moved for less than what their market should be. This Garland proposal in a vaccum or a league with no cap (or a tight cap Summer with far more teams needing/wanting to move cap than can take cap) is probably fair. In the reality of this Summer, no way should the Hawks pay that price.

I think Patches would like a cup. Think he stays in Carolina or goes to Tampa.

Canucks accept. A 2nd plus upgrading a 3rd to a 2nd is great value for Garland.

No chance the Hawks spend two 2nd's on Garland.
