Lmao even at 3mil retained why would Ottawa ever consider this? Backstrom is a full decade older than Cat, and with his injuries he's probably gonna be retired by the end of his contract. In two years this deal leaves Washington with an elite goal scoring winger at 27 locked up through his prime, and Ottawa will be left with a 3rd round selection and memories of a washed up former star who played here for a bit.
