Description
Would've loved to bring in Konecny as 2RW and drop Batherson to 3RW, but not enough money. Additionally, would bring Kleven to play with Hamonic, but JBD was given a 1-way contract, so that's also out the window unfortunately. :(

This is Plan B.

Tkachuk - Stützle - Giroux
Kubalik - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Tatar
Sokolov - Kastelic - MacEwan

Bottom six adjusted as needed (including shuffling prospects around, demoting, promoting etc). Tatar to move up to 2RW occasionally if Batherson is not producing. Joseph shot to the moon!

I really like Joseph, and I think he could bounce back to being a 10-15 goal scorer-- but that contract looks like a killer. Too much money for two years would be tolerable, but at three years, it's a lot to ask teams to absorb.
He turned an amazing couple week post-trade performance into major job security, and good for him. I just wouldn't want that contract.

Kleven is LHD, JBD is RHD. JBD signing doesn't affect Kleven whatsoever

If your bottom-6 is lacking and you have cap space, getting Joseph for free (+ a pick) is smart

He brings about 30 pts per 82 games, is good defensively and has elite metrics on the PK

Problem is very few teams have cap space and roster space... hence why Joseph is seen as a dump right now. he wouldn't in normal circumstances

He's owed $9.3M dollars and it carries three years at a ~$3M cap hit. He's a cap dump, man. No-one is going to want to give you anything for a bottom-six forward with that contract "in normal circumstances", especially since he's coming off a three goal season.
I like him. He might bounce back, but the contract is horrid.

Did you even understand the words I wrote?

Normal circumstances implies that we are not in... normal circumstances?

There are no circumstances, even "normal" ones where someone wants to commit more than nine million of real dollars, never mind that cap, to a guy coming off a three goal season. I think you're fooling yourself.
