With each passing day, I think more often that Karlsson to Pittsburgh is not happening.
I don't think most of these GMs can make any deals at all given the cap and player preference restrictions. What other offseason has had so few player trades?
My guess is that the Canes are offering something much more simple and enticing to the Sharks, but the Sharks are waiting for the Pens to step up.
The amount of moving parts the Pens require is far more significant than the Canes. Just look at this deal and everything required to make it work. Legitimate 4 major money movements needed here for the Pens - the Canes only need to move Pesce or Skjei and get some retention on EK. No buy outs, no bloated contracts going to SJ, easy…

I don't necessarily think it's as easy for the canes as you think. As far as moving pieces to make the deal it's easy for the canes, but i think where it get's difficult is next season. Can assume Pesce is gone but they have to figure out what to do next summer with Skjei, Aho, Teravainen, Necas, Martinook (probably gone) Drury, Jarvis.... that's a lot of $$$
I don't think the penguins can pull off Karlsson at all, but I do also think the canes have a lot to figure out given their FA class next summer.
