Seeing what this looks like. NJ still needs to fill out their roster, this provides depth on D & bottom 6, while returning 2 assets designed for the future. I believe Dallas would love to open a spot up for Elie after last season's debut, as well as give Nemeth a fresh start in order to free up room for Honka in the Top 8. Honka would have to start in AHL due to cap, but would be first call up, and full time spot next season at 22 yrs. old (over ripe). Any thoughts?
NJ is playing for the future ... their depth roles are going to kids. Doesn't make any sense with their philosophy... but nice try.
Appreciate the comment. Honestly that's why I chose the deal, as McKenzie (26) & Nemeth (25) are still young, so to me it helped both sides. IMO NJ would consider a deal like this to show players like Hall, Johansson, & Schneider (as well as the league) that the team isn't going to stay down for long. They've got cap space, need season ticket holders to believe, and this move wouldn't prevent their kids from opportunities. Time will tell.
