TB doesn't have the cap space and no chance they're spending 1.8 on a backup for a rested Vasilevskiy. Easiest NO EVER!!!!

Awful deal for the Hawks.

They would be using a retention spot on Karlsson for the next 4 seasons and eating $2.3m each of those years plus taking on Petry contract at $6.5m for the next two seasons… they don’t need Petry AND they are giving up Murphy.

All of this for a prospect goalie which they already have plenty of, Alex Nylander who that have already had in their system and were more than happy to move on from and two 2nd round picks.

Murphy is worth a 2nd round pick minimum on his own, retaining on Karlsson for four seasons at $2.3m per season is worth a 1st round pick + minimum and Petry’s contract for two years at $6.5m per season is worth a 1st round pick + minimum.

Hawks easily decline. Take Murphy out of the deal and the Hawks probably still don't do it.

The amount that it is going to cost for third party retention on Karlsson should be almost as much as what SJS wants for him in the first place, if not more. I don't know why any teams are considering trading for him, to be completely honest. SJS needs to eat half his contract if they want to get assets for him that actually help their rebuild. Otherwise there is no point in playing this game of chicken that they have been playing for the last year.
